The Guyanese Nurses Association of America is the avenue through which nurses of Guyanese heritage — and the communities they serve in New York and in Guyana — find resources for health, education, and professional advancement.

Our mission

We are confident that we can contribute to the professional, educational, and social advancement of nurses in the United States and in Guyana.

What we do

Four commitments, held since 1970.

Scholarships

Awards for students from high school through graduate school in the United States, and for nursing students across Guyana.

Continuing education

Professional development, mentoring from middle school onward, and presentations at transcultural nursing symposia.

Community health

Health fairs, screenings, and outreach with hospitals and partner organizations across Brooklyn and the wider diaspora.

Service to Guyana

Equipment, literature, and program support for hospitals and schools of nursing at home, unbroken since 1973.

From the president

“My goal is to strive for the highest standards and consistently inspire excellence.”

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as president of the Guyanese Nurses Association of America and as an ambassador for the Guyanese diaspora here in the United States and in Guyana. During this presidency my goal is to expand our organization, welcome all nurses of Guyanese heritage, and increase our scholarship funding.

Support our work

Every scholarship starts with a gift.

Contributions fund scholarships for nursing and other students, continuing education for practicing nurses, and community health work in New York and in Guyana. We accept gifts by Zelle or by mail.
